I've just invested in a lovely GSi lump, 40k on the clock, owned from new by an elderly man. Full Vauxhall Service history.

I have one of two options:

-Firstly, get the GSi engine, and stick it in, meaning i've got to change, all the petrol lines, tank, and then got to rig it up to my loom.

OR

-I could invest in a set of T40's. Now, I know the 1600T40 would be VERY quick, I just have a few things which im not too sure about.

What head do I use for the t40's, can i use the 1.6 one, as it is MPi?

If not should I use my modded 1.4 head, which would mean i could put my webber on it for the time being, til i can afford the t40's.

Can i put my piper cam out of my 1.4 into the 1.6?

What would be the most powerful way i could get my 1.6 lump running?

I have a 1400sr with cam, modded head and a webber.

Could I just stick the 1600 lump on the bottom end for a while, basically my 1400 tope end?

Thanks for any help, I know some things about this, but just need to clear them few things up. I am planning to stick the engine in either at dec, 1600srt40 (when im 18) or just stick on the 1.6 bottom end, at the end of may.

Thanks

The 1600 head will work fine with twin 40's, and it will also give better bhp figures than a modded 1.4 SR head. It has bigger ports and bigger valves.

Your piper cam will work fine in the 1600 and will give the same benefits if not more in the bigger engine.

For best power, you want to have a Blydenstein B+ head (large valves and ported) with your cam, twin 40's and a 4-branch with system.

if you have got the complete engine, incl wiring, then the installation will be easy. the tank is a straight swap. the fuel pump assy fits without any drilling. the fuel lines take about 10 minutes to fit. and the wiring takes a couple of hours. on all later novas, the majority of wiring is interchangeable.

If you do that, you will restrict horse power big time (the 1400 head is Sh*t), and raise your compression ratio to the point that you'll struggle to stop it running.

thats pointless as you will be running a 1600 engine as the block will be E16SE

so for insurance for example is makes no difference, if u use the 1600 block its a 1600 engine.!
