Hey guys, I want to cover my mk2 dash in suede (spelling) does any one know if it can be done the way you can use a heat gun on vynil for example, will i be able to shape the suede in to the dash?, i have totally rebuilt my dash trying to keep it fairly smooth all over but i can still see it being quite difficult on some parts i saw it on door pods on one of the cars in here but cant remember which, it was a brilliant job, looked well smart, any info would be great even if you used some other material let me know how you got on. cheers
here in the netherlands you an have your dash "flokked"
like they have in rallycars. they iron a piece of cloth over the dash.
costs? 70 euro?s = 47 pound.
i wound?t bother for that kind of money
Did you say "suede", why "suede",LOL,LOL :?

I thought it was black suede that was in rally cars, that is what i want, what is the flokked material you are talking about? do you know where i could find out more about how to do that, why do rally cars always have the dash finished in that material does anyone know. cheers!

Yeah i have noticed that, all the rally cars always have something stuck over the dash, its never just plastic.
Perhaps something to do with safety, if they crashed and the dash broke, it could injure the driver/co-driver with sharp edges etc. So they cover it in cloth to try and support it more.
Actually that sounds pretty stupid and strange,
but it could be true :?:

 Thats probably not as stupid as you think. I really dont know why they use that stuff, every rally car seems to have it.
