View Full Version : I AM MAKING REAR STRUT BRACES...................
I recently had 2 rear strut braces made in prototype form. For me and a friend, but I figure other people may fancy them too.....
They are mild steel with welded end plates. I have pictures of both which I shall post up if there is enough interest.
The two types are (A) for fitting to the strut's, under the bolts on the shockers. This is generally frowned upon by certain people. The advantage of this fitting is that there are NO holes to drill, and brace can be removed without any trouble.
The second type (B) is fitted between the rear suspension turrets and requires 4 holes to be drilled, and bolts to be fitted througth the drilled holes. Generally accepted as a more secure brace, but obviously requires a drill to be taken to your pride and joy!
OK Pricing. I am trying not to take the piss, but I am not doing this for nothing!!!! I am making a tenner on every one I sell, so don't bother asking for them any cheaper ok???
Steel ready to be painted-?35 to all novaloaders.
I have the prototype being chromed as I type, this will add ?15 to the price if this is required.
I'll paint them matt black/gloss black/silver for an extra fiver, but you may as well do that yourself!
Postage at cost, or Collection from Manchester, or within 10 miles, and if I get enough interest I'll bring some to DONCASTER for the show.
I will post up pics on this thread on FRIDAY, please ask any q's you want!!
I haven't posted in "FOR SALE" because this is general interest at the moment.... If nobody wants them, I won't be selling any!!! LOL!!!

I am very interested in option B that is fitted between the rear suspension turrets. Been after one for ages.
What diameter tubing is used to make the brace? Is there any option on the size available?
And the pricing is dead on :D
im liking option A let me know when there done mate cheers
In answer to phil gte the tubing it just below 2" (48mm) and I am NOT currently offering different tubing diameters.
I have actually done this because you can't get rear braces to match proper cages. If people want big-diameter tubing they normally buy the "fearless motorsport" one from Brett Warburton, but they are ?120 each i believe! If there was enough interest, I will make a "big tube" version.
Xhibit
I have one made up in this form (over strut type) in a standard silver paint finish. If you want it, let me know ASAP!!!! I can email you a pic if you want????

2" (48mm) is fine by me, let me know when there ready, i'll have an unpainted version
Cheers.
Why is Option A such a bad idea ?

Why is Option A such a bad idea ?
cause it's on the rubber mounted strut tops and if you attach belts to it they can snap off
i'll have a ?35 one asap...i assume it will fit with all trim and seats etc fitted??? will it come with bolts and washers? and plates to go on the inside of the arch?

Anyway,
NO bolts are included (but I can get some rather spiffing allen headed bollts and nuts in chrome for an extra couple of quid).

I am NOT including plates for inside the turrets, but if people want them, i can get them made up for an extra couple of quid.
I am just trying to keep the prices realistic, so all extra's cost more money!.
Anyway,I am picking up the chrome one hopefully today for pictures on here.
I am getting quite a lot of interest on this thread, so I would appreciate it if people would PM me the exact details of what style they require, A OR B, chrome or painted or plain steel, and whether they want bolts/nuts/extra plates for the inner turret, and whether you want to post/collect and anything else you can think of. This will help me know how many to make!
Turnaround on thes braces is going to be 14 days from receipt of order.
OK no chrome till TUESDAY but here's LEE HASLAM's steel one painted black. We are fitting this tonight so hopefully I'll have some fitted pics tomorrow!!!

Bolts and plates are extra if you want them......

NTL apparently. They have bounced me off a proxy server in Belfast now after some pressure from my mate who is "Networks Manager" at Salford University.
