Steven Gault, who's reconditioning my engine is posting on my local forum, updates on the progress of my engine! Here's the first:

---------------------------------

well I have it in bits, and it shows that the previous owners werent that caring about oil changes.. but being a vauxhall its pretty robust, just needs a 010in grind on big ends. Mains will polish.

Check out the stained colour of these components.

Also measureing up the crank prior to ordering shells.

i just started my rebuild on my V8 yesterday, considering its not been used for a long time, i.e it had leaves in the inlet and plants growing on it  it is surprising good condition. I never realised how expensive it would be for a rebuild until you start looking at buying replacement parts.
Good look with it anyway.

It should workout around the 850 mark. However i needed new hydralic tappets because they were worn. Cost me 91 quid from vaux

Now thats not very far, you got the fcuking engine for nothing, well if you don't want it box it you and give it back

You have to consider that there was 140,000 on that engine, with 4 previous owners, one being Dessie Orr, I will give you the all steel crank which i had in the engine, so get him to check that

You can ask anyone, I change my oil every 2500 miles

wow.. calm yourself mate.. everyone else will agree, it was a joke, no need for that!

Update:

Valves are burned and need replaced, also guides need replaced. All sorted now cos i got some new valves quite cheap.

He's also modifying my Pully wheel to have the same effect as a vernier pully!!
