Dash, paint or plastic

Hey all.
I'm going to do a little (cheap) modding to my car while the yo-yos are tight. I'm thinking of doing the black parts of my dash in red and the rest in black. I was wondering what people have done. Like would it be better to prep it with plastic primer and spray it or just get the sticky plastic stuff in the colours I want? Any experience would be great.

i went to halfords mate and bought plastic primer and the coluor i wanted which was blue and sprayed it up that way

make sure u get ne silcon polish or greece off the areas ur are sprayin

i did it with plastic primer which was a VERY bad idea using plastic primer and normal spray get the propper stuff

Thanks for the replies. I guess I'll be painting then. Now all I gotta do is get a black dash and I'll be sorted.
