i'm putting a 1.4i engine into my car i was wondering if its woth replcing the standard f10 with a 1.3sr close ratio gearbox can anybody help??
Also could antbody give me a quick run through of what i will need to change when i do the swap it is from a 1.2spi to a 1.4spi?? cheers

when I last played with a f13 gearbox, the flywheel housing was bigger than on a f10 box. so I deduced that if you fit a 1.4 or 1.6 lump, then the f10 is not a straight fit, and you must fit a f13. There will now be several posts from people that claim to have 1.4 motors with f10 boxes. I only go on what i know from doing it.

If you are swapping spi to spi, then spend an evening with the haynes book looking for differences in the wiring. because everything else will fit straight on. But I would always recommend that you have the donor present for a swap cos there is always a left hand thread widget that you just can't get from the dealer anymore.

the 1400spi should have the smaller flywheel and your F10 should be fine

i had a 4 speed 1400spi which was obviously F10

u should simply need to swap the ECU with the ecu from the 1400 and make sure you use the 1400 TBI unit and not the 1200 one as the fuel injector is different
