Hey guys, only found your site two days ago and almost fell off my chair to see that such a thing existed! :o hooray, my nova-n00b questions can be answered!

Right, I want to remove the Nova 1.2 and the Vauxhall lettering on the tailgate... here's the questions;

Is the lettering attached by an adhesive or "bolted" - will there be great holes in the tailgate?

If its adhesive, whats the best way to get it off? Hairdryer to warm the adhesive and then pull the lettering off?

Cheers guys!

when u take the badges off there will b a sticky residue u remove this by wiping some ome white spirit or better thinners on a rag and wiping it over the glue

I removed mine by carefully peeling them off. I did it on a hot day so there was no need to heat it up, but might be a good idea to get a hair dryer on them as you peel them away.

After that I got some Autoglym paint renovator and some Autoglym car polish and gave the tailgate a good polish. It'll take a few washes for any sign of the badges to go. It depends what colour your car is and how old it is as to what kind of mark it'll leave.

Personnaly I wouldn't use thinners in case you take too much paint off.

if you have sticky residues left over the best thing to do is use Autoglym intensive Tar Remover - comes in a tiny little bottle (you don't need much). This gets rid of all those horrible sticker marks. Tried and tested on my old rally car (before I had it it was plastered in Sparco stickers - it turned out that these were to hide the rust!)

I have another query, now i didn't look into this in great detail as its getting colder and my hands are gona drop off....the Merit sticker, it seems pretty sturdy and doesn't want to come off at all...i have tried simply picking at it with my finger nails but did't get too far...

Any ides please guys?

If they seem hard to remove then just try more heat which will soften the glue, you can use a scraper tool covered in something to protect your paint( masking tape/cloth) to get behind the sticker and ease it off. Dont try and rush it though...
