Mk1 / MK2 lights

I'm picking up a mk2 this weekend and the headlights need replacing.

I have some mk1 headlamps lying around. will they fit?

Nope,
the MK2 headlights are slimmer than the mk1's.
So the MK1's will be too high to fit into the mk2 wing/grille.

you could replace the headlights and grille with mk1 items, i.e. leave the mk2 indicators? i think that would work...

No you couldn't do that either because the mk2 indicstors are smaller than the mk1 and the wings are also different, to fit mk1 lights you would need mk1 indictors ,mk1 grille and mk1 front wings.Not worth it
