i got 14" sr/gsi rims running 185/60/14's and mines lowered 40mm all round and theres no rubbing and it looks nice aswell the rear tyres hide under the rear arches!!!!!! the front as some gap between the tyres and arches but not too much at all!!!!!

if u want a pic pm me and i'll send u one

Wen i bought my nova the tool that owned her had cut the springs , id say she was -100mm down, far 2 low broke 2 drives in the space of a week!!!!!

-60mm is enough IMO but with 14" wheels u can go as low as u want!!

The ideal lowering for the best handling is about 30mm(ish)
Go much lower and handling and ride suffers,it depends what you want.
I wouldnt recomend fitting lowered springs with your existing standard shox, get a gmax kit of shox n springs if money is tight, about ?200 and you can fit them yourself in an afternoon.

mines droppedp 80 mm on 17s and i have wicked handling and very few probs!! wheel bearings are main concerns however i run a wider track so its the price i have to pay

I dare say it would handle better raised a bit.
And it must tramline if you have 17's and a wider track, which sugests a low offset rim, both factors cause tramlining, especially on small cars like novas and corsas.
