got a 1.2 spi at the mo got a 1.4spi sat in garage to put in is the swap hard to do how long does it take roughly? also will my 1.2 starter motor and alternator work on this bigger engine.
One other thing anybody got any idea of how much a clutch would be for the 1.4 engine is it worth spending a bit more and getting a performance clutch for the car?
cheers

i wouldnt even bother fitting the 1.4spi unless u were also to do the following:

get 1.4 SRi exhaust manifold with lambda probe hole and a 1.4sri downpipe
get a GTE middle section
fit a 1.4 SR camshaft

then its worth doing :)

they are very restricted engines as standard and those extra bits will help open it up a bit :)

and to answer yes the alternator will work the starter SHOULD work and the clutch is the same as the 1200 clutch

You will have to drill a hole for the lambda sensor in your manifold

just get a 1.4 sr center section and make that fit the 4 branch - or better yet get an ashley system for a 1.4SR which should be a direct fit onto your 1400 4branch and they are only ?90-100ish

dont bother with the decat pipe

1.4 sr camshaft is a good choice and while youve got the head off you could even look at fitting a 1200/1300 carb head and matching up the inlet manifold which would give u bigger valves, better flow and more compression
