Gearbox....buggered i think!

hi, Last night driving along quite the thing the gearbox or as i thought the engine became juddery, then i put it into 5th and it was ok, then went to put the foot down a touch and it just revved, i can put it into gear when the engine is running from the engine sideof the lever.

I think it could be the clutch, but dont you get some sort of notice, slipping etc..?

or it could be the selector ontop of the gearbox?

or the gearbox is totaly donald ducked?

gimme some info as to what it is... gnna try n get it sorted over the next few days.

my driveshaft fell out the box cuasing these symptoms once...

there still would be noise as if there was contact with te enginethough wouldnt there? cos i broke a driveshaft years ago and it still turned regardless! hmm!!

could the "adjuster" for the linkage have come lose and causing you to not be able to select gears
