View Full Version : What Exhaust...?
Guys, got a 1.3 A pack head for my 1.4SR just wanted to know what exhaust system I should go for to match it for best performance?
well to be honest an ashley manifold and system will probably do you fine, jsut needs to ahve the manifold matched to the head etc blah blah
and its quite cheap to get an ashley
matched in what way mate? like get the ports on the head done?
is the system mild steel or stainless...after stainless really.
what kind of price is it? am I gunna have to get ports matched on most systems or just the ashley one?
does someone like magnex do systems for 1.3 head? I'm sure I have only seen them for GSi' s...
what are mongoose like?
well, theres a few questions there, lol

pm jules, hes got a mongoose and raves about it
i wouldnt know, only got a backbox
I've got a ashly 4-2-1 manifold for my 2ltr 8v, fitted on fine, waiting to see if it's made any difference. Corsanova-mark had an ashly system, best to PM him.

I wish I did have a Mongoose, I had one on my old 1.6T40 and I loved it to bits, I have a PowerBlow on my GSi and I hate it with a passion.
I'm not sure that Mongoose will give any more power increases than other makes like Magnex or Scorpion but for the look, build quailty, fit and sound (imo) they can't be beaten.
how much you pay for it mate?
can you get mongoose systems for 1.3 head?

yup mild... but it's thick so won't rust through for ages... i painted the backbox with hi temp paint anyway cause thats allways the first bit to suffer

ashley are even cheaper when u know the owner  thats how i got mine they will do me a full system for ?80.
will they two for you (one for me) @ ?80 ?
Sorry Barney - been busy fixing up the GSi.
My Mongoose was a 1.3 one that I had on before I ffitted the 1.6 engine so yes they do a fitment for the 1.3
I can't remember how much it cost me tbh as it was a fair few years ago - I think it was somewhere around the ?250 mark but it is full stainless stell so it should last longer than the car!!
Go to the Collins Performance / Mongoose website and see if they have a price / application chart:

no worries mate....been following your thread, lol
will let you know guys :D
cheers for the help (so far)

yeah my manifold joint is the same as the one in the actual exhaust pic - ie straight towards the rear.
the baffles have gone on my exhaust so i could do with something else
that seems like a good no frills system
