fuel sender unit

im trying to take my fuel sender unit out just now but it very hard to get out. im puting a secondhand one back in, its a plastic one apossed to the metal one in the tank just now!! has anyone taken theres out before so you could tell me what tool to use plz.

jack it up so that the fuel sloshes to the other side of the tank. if it is non efi then just stick a metal bar across it and twist anticlockwise very slowly.
if it is efi, then just undo the screws

yeh mate i have jacked the motor up and drained the tank! also tryed to use a metal bar as it says to in the haynes!! so what you r saying is just keep tryin with the metal bar!!
