theres one near me for sale, i need a cr box, the guy says its off his 92' sr. will this definatley have the cr box? final drive ratio 4.18??

1) it may or may not be CR
2) it definitely doesn't have 4.18 final. It's 3.94.

no they have dont have 4.18 i found an f10 yesterday out of a 1.2i with a 4.18 so that will be going in my cr box.. :wink:

i had to clean mine with sandpaper and thinners... and even then it was hard to read dur to really light stamping

if u can get a pic ide love to know axactly where to look.. as ive got an f13 and a f10 but have no idae what ratios unless i stipp and count teeth..

the guy with the cr box says the part number is 90334344, but this dont agree wtih wat ste said.

so i guess he is looking at the wrong number

can you tell from the part number the final drive and is it is cr?

i tried typing in thr part no. which is on the top of the box an epc but nowt came up..

agree it is hard to find even when you have the gearbox in front of you i.e. not on the car and know where to look

yeah, ist a hard number to find, but once you knwo where to look, and where to spray the carb cleaner to get the crap off to read it.

just checked my 3 gearboxes ive a w with 4.18, w with 3.74 and c with 3.94..
i shall be mixin em up when this bad weather resides

Well done Ste for taking a picture of the code. That's exactly what you have to look for, Evry1. You'll have to rub it with sandpaper to see it. If your code says C its close ratio - if its says W its not. End of story (unless somebody's changed the gears!)

My old 1.3SR says W418 (W/R, 4.18 final drive). My new box which supposedly came from a Corsa SXi (dunno) says C394 (C/R, 3.94 f.d).

With the close box the revs hardly drop between 3rd and 4th. In 5th the engines does about 3500 revs at 70mph
