vauxhall astra van engine conversion

could anyone tell me if it is possible (without to much hassle) to fit a 1.6 diesel engine for a MK2 astra to a MK3 van which was originally fitted with a 1.7 diesel engine??? any help would be great

if the 2 engines look the same then you should be ok

there are 2 different 1700's

the non turbo vauxhall engine and a turbocharged izuzu one

the 1600's are all vaux engines

so assuming your mk3 van has a non-turbo engine you'll be fine - if its got a turbo u'd be better finding a proper izuzu TD engine for it as the 1600 and 1700 non-turbos are dogs and use different mounting points from the izuzu engine too
