redtop-cheapest way to annihalate the gti, xr2i+proper cars like some imprezas etc (not the p1's etc though)

cam and twin 40's and you will kill the golf GTi, presuming you have already got a full stainless, as for the xr2i they are pretty quick motors

I was holding it up to my mates mk3 Golf GTi the other nite. It must be ragsed. I also beat an XR2 in my 1.4SR.

Was it an XR2 you beat and not an XR2i,
the XR2i is a fast little motor basically because of the power weight ratio, light shell, powerful engine, equals good speed.
The XR2i is gonna be difficult to beat without expensive mods to your car.
The XR2i has around 100bhp as standard, your sri is 82bhp standard, it is gonna be hard.

Put on some twin 40's, a decent cam and strip out all your interior and you will should have both cars. Laughing as you fly go past the gay ford

has the XR2i got led washer jets that change colour? cos if it has then there is no way you can beat it, what ever car your in, these halfords mods add like a 1000bhp so i have been led to believe by max poo

first the golf gti....no chance, unless you have a heavily modified 1.4

the xr2, i dont see why not with a set of t40's, cams etc

and whats with everyone thinking the xr2i is quicker than the xr2!?

which it is me ode!
as for a golf GTi, if you can get 110bhp from the nova with stripped out interior you should keep with the golf quite easily

Is the Golf a 8v or a 16v GTi??

Maybe u'd have a chance against a 8v, but not a 16valver

well if thr sr is standard, you will strugle with the xr2i cus there 110bhp standard.. as for the golf no chance, but you could probably do the xr2 quite nicely.. :D

as i use to own an xr2i (standard) and my mates 1.4sr mk1(standard) we raced and he was right allong side me till i got to 95,then i just pulled away upto 125mph,he could allso get about 117-120 though takes ages to get up there, and then you got to take into acount for the speedos beeing out..

pssssssssst, just for a little tip, forties and cam, forties and cam as has been repeated is good, but the heart of the engine is the head. This is the key to a decent engine.

twin 40s, cam, blydenstein head should muller the XRpoo - or you could wait a couple of months for his engine to blow up in his face.

my mate has a Mk1 golf with an 1800 Corrado engine in running on Weber 40's. He says its putting out around 200bhp!

Nah sorry, it's only 857bhp. We bought three of these led kits and fitted them one at a time and dynod the car before and after. The average increase on a standard 1.2i was 857bhp. Printout to proove.

dunno bout the golf. a mate of mine had a mk1 a few years ago. 1.8 with a kent cam that was just the right side of lairy and it was a rapid little car.

if the xr2i is the NA 1800 zetec and you're just gonna bolt on some parts without serious work to whats left, forget it.

I'm not that good at explaining things on line, but if you want a comparison about head work etc, when you see a power gain for a bolt on part listed as, say 6-8bhp. the 6 is for the bolt on boys, the 8 is for those who modify the internals properly. it all adds up. don't listen to the tools in max power who tell you head work gives you 3bhp max and that Nitrous Oxide is the answer.

and remember to save some weight somehow. be it a diet or stripping the car
