changing gearbox help!!

i am in the middle of modifying a 1.2 nova merit.
but it only has a 4 speed gearbox in it. my bro in
law says tht the 5 speed gearbox out of an old 1.3 cavalier
will be a stright forward swap. I need a 5speed box in it b4 building
the engine bk up.

Hi,

You can find 5-speed box's off Nova's that are F-reg onwards. My G-reg 1.2 had a 5-speed as standard.

Most scrappy's will have them.

F10 5 speed what ya need, astar have em as well. some are long ratio, nova SR's have the short ratio 5 speed in em

so will tht gearbox not go on to the car? cause can get it for nothing from the car

yep it will fit

the gear ratios arent very "sporty" though and you find the gears are very "long"

?15 you can have my sting gear box came of a 1.2 and its 5 speed so will fit on nicely
