final drive on f13

Think my f13 has a 4.18 and was wondering where i could get something to give better acceleration like 4.53. would the CWP set have to come from an F10 or something. Not bothered about top end only usually go back roading and prefur good acceleration. how much difference would it make to acceleration???

f13 comes with a 3.74 i think.

what makes you think it has a 4.18 ?

and you dont really want to go higher than a 4.18

4.18 do the job, anything over would be overkill in my experience of a road car

I've seen several f13's with the 4.18. If you have that, the chances are that you have a wide ratio gear cluster. Rather than look for a 4.53, find a close ratio cluster from a f10 or f13 cr.

You can tell if you have a wide ratio box as you will do over 115 in 4th and will loose puff in 5th miles before the rev limit.

i had a vvvvveeeeeerrrrrrryyyy long ratio gear box form a cav F13 of some description

i was unfortunate it didnt have the 4.18 i needed, but had a 3.94 i think.

managed to find a 4.18 in a early sr though.

as MC said, coupled with a F13CR you cant go wrong.

ive had four different gearboxes on different engines, and this is the most fun yet.

i was just outbid on ebay for a 4.18 fd :( went 4 13.50 but postage was 7 quid!!!!

where could i get a 4.53 from though just to try it it is on a corsa not nova and it is a f13cr as it does about 3.5k in fifth at 70.

You have F13CR with 3.94 final ratio then if you're doing 3500rpm in 5th doing 70mph.
