?500 budgit!

hi some of you lot will laugh but what do you think i should get with a ?500 budgit price for spending it on a stereo system any ideas what DECENTISH :lol: stuff i can get :oops: ??? cheers. Grey :)

Will, always try and start with the best head unit you can afford. This is the central system of the system. Everything else works around the head unit.
As for a headunit try to get one by Kenwood/Pioneer or Alpine.
Amps/Subs-try JBL GTo series etc/Alpine/Infinity
Speakers-JBL/Infinity

Try and avoid Sony stuff(even though some of the Xplod stuff is decent)
Avoid cheap stuff like on Ebay-Pro Audio 6X9 500watt speakers etc.
And SPLX if possible.

But do try Ebay for some great bargains.

Remeber to take into account the prices for wiring kits,sub boxes etc into your total budget.
I can't really price items cus they differ everywhere, but sometimes Halfords have some great sales on certain items.

I picked up a couple of Sony 12" subs from halfords ?50 each, and a Magnat Classic 480 amp off ebay for ?75. Couple of sub boxes for ?40 each, Infinity 6x9s for ?50 from halfords again and it all sounds pretty good, even off my rather poo Kenwood HU lol

altho even after that you'll be left with ?200ish to get a half decent HU

I suggest you do buy sony. The gear is bulletproof. I have had about 18 differsnt head units, 8 amps, 5 different subs and 10 different sets of speaker (i'm 31 and have had 12 cars!! LOL) and sony gear is the most reliable I've ever had, so much so that my last stereo was ALL sony exc3ept the wiring. The prices are reasonable too.

SONY CDX-900 ?159.99 leicester car audio (cd head unit)
JBL GTO4000 4-channel amp ?79.99 (bass junkies)
JBL GTO12" sub x 2 39.99 each) bass junkies

That's 320. Buy some MDF from b+q and make your own box (?20)
And you've got ?160 left for front component speakers (jbl GTO series usually about ?100 for 51/4 and tweet) ?60 will be gobbled up with postage and wiring.


All top-bollock stuff well into your budget, and a fancy flash dan head unit....

ive got 2 12"rockford fosgate punch subs in box and a 1200 watt kenwood amp if u want some proper bass
