ticking 1.2i! just rebuilt it!!

arghhhh, my 1.2i bent a valve so i put a new valve in it etc etc

just finished it, and started it up! now ive got a bloody loud ticking sound coming from the head! the timing is right!

but when i was trying to undo the bottom pulley bolt before i started it i didnt know where the timing mark was so i just put the belt on, when the bolt finaly came undone it was about 6teeth out!!

i then re timed it and started it!

could i have bent another valve by having it 6teeth out, bearing in mind i was only turning it over by hand at that point?!

when the car was running with the bent valve it didnt tick so why does it now?
could it be due to no oil up to the head? as its been stood a week and the head would be dry?

im scared now!!

it could be the lifters filling up with oil but it wont last for long.

on my old engine 1 of the shim things fell out makin a racket!

Mine did exactly the same after i ragged it a bit too much.

Mine was making a ticking sound , higher the revs the louder and faster the ticking.

I presume mine was cos the oil was low and there was temporarily no oil in the lifters , after they filled up it ran ok, just need to pop some more oil in it !

right it no longer ticks! :?

but it still doesnt idle very nice! how does every one elses idle mines abit up and down tho it does drive ok and revs up smoothly!

the sri got sold to twag who managed to write it off before he had time to pay for it :lol:
