because the standard shoks are to long for the springs so it allows the arm to drop all the way down so the spring falls out.
if you have uprated springs you wont get this.

I had the same problem the mot guy just pulled out my springs and it failed for it, i got away with just cable tying them down.

the springs do have a habit of falling out with standard shocks.

 at first you dont succeed then cable ties are the answer!!
can 40mm springs fall out? cuz ive never had any problems with them!
also, when i had the GTE, i had 60mm jamex springs on it, no shocks, just springs, and they never popped out, i didnt have any problems with then at all!

They only tend to fall out when you jack up the rear or get enough air over a bridge  but they wont fall out in normal driving.

GTE was 25mm lower than standard so the springs are only the equivilant of 35mm. So no they wouldn't necessarly fall out
bloody hell i'm glad i sold my old car when i did then. i lowered it 60mm on just springs. i i started jacking it up loads to swap wheels then paint the drums then swap wheels again. i never even checked the springs, but worst of all i used to go burnin down the back roads to jump a bridge.
oooops.

your luck then mate!
the front end of my car is lowered 40mm, i plan to drop the back end 60mm, if they do pop out, how do you put them back in?
and as for 'air over a bridge', lol, ive done that a few times, theres a bridge in warstock (Rob might know which one im on about!) jumped it a few times, but never had any problems!
will i when i put the 60mm springs on?
cheerz!

well, mine only pop out if you pull down the lower arm!! they move around when the car is jacked up, but dont literally fall out lol. i just wanted to check this for the MOT so its not relly anything to worry about.
cheers
in my old car when i took the jack off n went for a drive you can jus here em go back into place. never had any trouble with them thou.
