View Full Version : 1.2i cat
i'v i got a j reg 1.2i and was wondering if i could put part of the exhaust off an older 1.2 so that i got rid of the cat.
will this give it much more power?
will it pass the MOT?

if its on a j reg it doesn't need a cat bylaw for the mot just buy a cat replacement pipe from ur local motor factors

i think u can swap the 1.2 carb zorst with urs.
People say that it can give 10bhp more (i.e. giving the same bhp as the 1.2 carb) just by removing the cat.
Prob more like 5bhp though which is well worth it.
The 1.2i with the CAT removed will be around the same power as the 1.2carb. Maybe less because the single point injection really restricts the system.
can i just get a section to replace the cat or will i need the whole system

just get from after the down pipe to the back box off the 1.2 carb, it will fit straight on and make a nice change in sound and maybe a bit more power.

u have to keep ur manifold cause of the sensor in it for ecu.
do you rekon it would be better to buy it new or go down the scrappy.
any ideas how much it would cost new?
I would just try and find a decent condition one down a scrappy. It ain't really worth the price of one new. I don't know how much a scrappy will charge as each scrappy is different in how much they want to charge.
Just rip one off a 1.2carb Nova, it will go straight on and get rid of the CAT
thats wot i'll do at the weekend then.
cheers for the help and info.
