Ive just aquired a sheddy 1.2 merit, and the F10 gearbox is noisey as fuk, esp 2nd! I want to put a closer ratio box in it. Does anyone know what would be suitable? Im not too clued up on the numbers.

cheers

You want an F13C (means Close ratio). Think they're on Corsa SXi, not sure. Hayne's manual says that Nova GTE has them, but they don't! There's a post on gearboxes somewhere abouts.

Good luck finding one. Just put one on my SR and its loads quicker, but had to travel across Mordore and climb Mount Doom to get it.

If you can't find one I have an F10 for sale! 50,000 miles. It has 4.18 final drive ratio which'll be better than yours if it has 3.97 f. drive.

Certain examples of 1.4SR have F13CR in them, but from what I gather you'll be hard pushed finding one. (Mine has one, but naturally I'm keeping that!)

Erm does anyone know what an F13C the close one does in certain gears at certain revs as I have a fairly low ratio box in my 1.4 and if it is then I own the other 4 F13C boxes that are still alive.

It will do:

1st @ 8000rpm 40mph
2nd@ 8000rpm 50mph
3rd@ 8000rpm 80mph

These are all approx as I don't really take much notice of the clocks when doing this kind of driving (or at all), it takes some small pikey to think he can overtake for me to do this!

8000 revs in a Nova - thats gotta be a first!

F13CR gives 60MPH at 3000 revs in 5th gear, or 50 in 4th gear @ 3000 or 40mph @3000 revs in 3rd etc....

I have a video camera and will get a mate to film me driving, naturally the speedo WILL NOT be shown until I do 3000rpm in 5th to see if it is an F13cr
