1.3 SR's are strictly mk1, 1.4 SRi's re mk2 only, and a 1.4 SR can be either a mk1 or a mk2. I prefer the look of a mk2 so an SRi is the best.

If you ask you question a bit more specifically like, which engine has the most tuning potential, well IMO the 1.4 SR. Its a very common engine and has cheap parts widely available.

Which is most powerful as standard, SRi=82bhp, 1.4SR=72bhp and 1.3SR=69bhp.

Cheapest would be the 1.3's followed by the 1.4SR's then the SRi.
