nope halfords always stock them or any other good motor shop.

the first thing to buy after getting a new car is the haynes manual, its like being a christian and not owning a bible!!! just doesnt happen

and people on here get quite pissed off if you ask questions which are answered in the haynes manual....

go get yourself one today!!!

The closest halfords is 50 mile away, tried about every motorstore around here. Jesus did'nt think asking a simple question would pi-s-s you off, thought this forum was for helping people.

I'm not asking anyone to go to any trouble to find out the torque, but if you have the knowledge why not share

off the top of my head its 20nm then 90 + 90 + 90 degrees each stage done in a spiral pattern from the center outwards

What exactly is a spiral pattern? I was supposed to use a diagonal sequence on my rocker cover (no idea if I did or not though...) as well, havent got a clue how you actually do this sequence though...
(doesn't leak now so who really cares!)

first you have to do all the bolts up to 18 lbs then once all are to that torque you have to turn each bolt in order another 60 degrees more 3 times each so in the end the bolts will have been turned 180 degrees.

the sequence is the top left ( looking into the bay from the front of the car) bolt first then bottom right then bottom left then top right then the same for the next 4 bolts in then finally the last two in the middle. looks like this if u imagine each nuber as a stud >>>>>>>>

1 5 9 8 4

3 7 10 6 2

do all of them to 18 lbs first but check them all twicw to ensure they are at the correct torque before you start turning them to the angles

m.d. - you sure about the tightening procedure? I always start from the middle, working my way out. I've only got a pug haynes to hand here at the mo, and that has a tightening sequence starting from the middle......

8 4 1 5 9

7 3 2 6 10

speaking of haynes:

the tightneing sequnce is numbered 1 to 10.

Did you take the head off properly?

im not sure how important it is wheather you start from the middle or the outside. thats just the way ive allways done it. ive never warped a head either.

if mr haynes said start from the middle i would tho.

as Derek Zoolander said make sure you undo the head in the same way as you can warp it if u just undo one bolt at a time.

Yep. Undo from the outside in (in a spiral again).
