Crappy CD player (Kenwood KDC 3024) is skipping everytime you hit a bumnp - and ideas? Fitted in Mk2 standard slot. Was fine for a while then it got so bad I havent bothered switching it on since.

ok first thing, clean it. Get one of those cd's that has tiny bristles on the underside. Then when it spins, it cleans the laser lens. Then secondly, take the head unit out, and when you bought it, it would have come with a small rod that screws in to the back of the head unit. Screw it in (right in the middle) and replace the unit. The rod will locate into the support at the back of the dash and stop it from skipping
Make sure you also have all the wee pins in the cage poked up so it hold it all steady

It's never had anything screwed into the back and there isn't anything to screw in the back (!? worrying?), and I've only had it 6 months and for 3 of those it wasn't used whilst I had no car! It's only gone like this since it's been in the Nova, was fine in the mazda (mounted horizontally.)

you not all cars need it. That is why it isn't screwed in when you buy it. if you take the head unit out, you will see a threaded hole in the middle of the back. if you have lost the thing, pm me your address and i'll pop one in the post to you!
If your acr's been lowered then get used to it as it will jump but shouldnt do it all the time, mines does it but not so bad is im sitting 60mm lower than i should lol
Its an idea to shtuff foam down the back ofit aswell but make sure there are no live wires loose ! Behind my headunit theres a few wires lying loose than have nowhere to connect so i cant but foam down there obviously but give it a go, made a big dif in my mates corsa

Car is lowered now, but it was doing it anyway on the world's softest suspension set up!
Foam sounds interesting but won't work in the nova coz theres alsorts of stuff wired into the back of my stereo (basically whenever I need a live or switched live I go there coz it's the easiest place to reach!)
I've got loads of screws I could try in the back - anything's worth a go!

foam rounf the back is a really bad idea! the back of a head unit is the heatsink for the amp. And as most head units are 160watts RMS then it can get very hot down there, foam burns very easily and very quickly. With all the plastic above and around it, the car wouldn't stand a chance. If a job is worth doing properly etc etc.....

wat u need is a cd changer, which u cant add onto dat radio, or a high end radio, cheap radios dont even like bumps in new cars

just get some 1cm thick foam sheet and wrap it around the headunit that way u can still take it out

2litrenova is soooooooooo correct with this post reply.....
my mate put the smallest peice of foam at the back of his head-unit cos he had the exact problem.......... although it sounded like a good idea at the time, he now has a charcoal grey 1.4sr to send off a sorn decleration form to the DVLA...
(no need for those flame decals nemore..lol)
