Does a transducer from a 1.2spi Nova work with a digi dash from a Astra GTE because i was sure you have to use the transducer off the car the digi dash came from? if that makes sense.

Cheers Craig

^^^^made sence to me :D

As far as I know the you don't have to have the same transducer as the digi dash was oringinally fitted with :D

no the transducer doesn't have to be from the same car but it does have to be of the same type. the transducers from any spi nova will work with any 8v dash but not the 16v. The 16v ones have to come from 16v astra gte's.

its not the number of valves that determines whether or not its a tic k or arc type rev counter its the age of the car!

my arc type rev counter digi dash came out of a 2.0ltr 8V late model gte

my code is ak and is from a dash with the dip in the rev counter dont know if it was 8v or 16v

the 1.2spi senders will run the 8v (or "tick-type") dashes as i found out when i purchased a dash and didnt get the sender with it since they are both 6pulse senders

16v (or arc-type) use a 16pulse sender and u will need the original sender for that dash

8v dashes look better anyway!

16v more accurate

16v more accurate

for revs or speed? or everything? :?

speed. 16 pulses as opposed to 8. both the 8v and 16v dashes read inaccurately for speed compared to normal clocks (10%ish iirc). although because the 16v transducer creates more pulses, the 16v dash will read more 'real time' than the 8v if you see what i mean?!?ie the 8v dash will take longer to register the speed. its probably such a small difference its unnoticeable though.

yeah instead of taking 0.11 seconds to update the speed, it takes 0.0505.
thats one twentieth of a second.

you can notice it more when you've got a LET or a valver which accelerates quickly, the speedo will jump up huge amounts, ie takes a while to recognise the speeds. ive had both 8v and 16v dashes and the you can hardly tell between them

i'm gunna just stick with my gte dials then i think. anyway, i've got plans for the mk1 dash and i know it's not easy fitting then to a mk1
