Where is the engine number on a C20XE ???

I cant find it ive looked on both my engines and cant see any numbers in the normal place !!

Ive had to send V5 away well Post office did and i left the engine number blank, i just told post office woman i couldnt find it!

Any help would be appreciated cos i want to get it sorted

I couldnt see the engine number on my xe when i got the engine because of all the dirt and paint on it.

Its normally between the dipstick and gearbox, (just on the face before the gearbox) Though i guess you have already looked there?

Have you tryed polishing the area up as it is quite faint at the best of times. Any grind marks where it used to be, if so i would be abit suspicious.

i will get a photo tomorrow... the thing is the little ledge where you think the number would be is only about 1 1/2 inches long max ... which isnt enough space to get 9 digits in!! im sure engine numbers are 9 digits lol

Could be a dodgy engine hence no number on the plaque, i just looked at the C20 XE in the garden and found it quite easily.

I've got to find mine, so that I can get a new clutch etc.

Hvaent looked yet so will let you know if mine was easy to find

its on the sloping face by gear box join at front. its written vertically

on 1 of mine "c20xe" is stamped along that edge aswell
