1.2-1.3 difference

hi all, i have a 1.2 in my nova have been offered a dona nova but not sure what engine has in it, it looks exactly the same as my 1.2 but the bloke thinks its a 1.3 which im after. the car is a complete rust bucket and i dont want to get lumbered with a pile of crap if its no good to me. how can i or is there any tell tell points to look for between 1.2 &1.3 engines or do they have markings on and where are they . cheers for your help

Whats the engine code? If i remember rightly its stamped on the block

you want the engine code to read 13sb not 12st. the code is on a flat peice of the block just under the last spark plug on the right. also the carb if its a later type 1.3 will have two venturis rather than just the one. or if you have the car what written on back of it. is it a nova 1.3sr will have roll bars not many 1.2's had roll bars unless they were put on. saloons had them.

it'll say 13s or 13sb on the block if its 1300. if its not an sr or 5 door then its prob not 1300.
