I want a good solid clean(rust free) car for summer, good second car/run around, preffably a convertable, been looking at golf mk1s, peugot 205s, rover 214's etc, that kinda size.

About a J/K/L reg or earlier.

Dont really want it bigger then 1600cc(1.6)

I dont know much about what cars are good or not.

As for insurance im 20(21 in june), 1 yrs NCB, low risk area.

Please no smart comments as it is really getting beyond a joke.

Any surgestions please?

Neil.
26-02-04, 12:00 AM
yeah i can, even if i take off insurance and add it for shows, well nova is going in for serious work soon, ready for shows, and now i want a reliable car that WILL work, liek to work and back and to gf's n stuff, dont wanna use nova for every day jobs!

Will
26-02-04, 12:05 AM
:?

if you think ur nova isnt capable of taking you to your mrs house or to work then hows it going to get you on a 2/2.5 hr trip to shows?

as reagrds summer car get a 1.2 nova u know wot ur looking for and will be cheap to insure in theory the same price u pay now. just a case of swapping back and forward all the time.

Neil.
26-02-04, 12:08 AM

fuck the summer car

Neil.
26-02-04, 12:53 AM
An ISA wont get me far tho will it, unless it has a engine.

and all that for ?800!? You're all havin a laugh.

Save the ?800 in an ISA as Fester suggested. It's not worth having more than one car, when you're dividing up sums of money hardly worth using to pool together for one car.

Neil.
26-02-04, 01:00 AM
can i please just have ideas on cars, i didnt say, what can i do with ?800, i asked what car would be good.

Please dont answer a question i haven't asked, not having a go, just did ask that. would like my original question answered pleased.

what ever you do dont have a scort or a rover
my mom had 3 scorts and a rover
the mk4 scorts aint that bad but the mk5s am utter shite
the roof leaks on em and all 3 of my moms had been in accidents
the rover wernt to bad at first but then all the dash started to fall
apart and all the condesation from the haeter sent the roof moldy
the golfs am nice but ave got a metal boot the size of a matchbox
(thats being bad 2 mathboxes)
go wiv the astra m8

pug 205 cti convertable 105 bhp, not the same engine as the gti.(1.6)

renault 5 turbo convertable, (1.4)

golf convertable,(1.6/1.8)

i would stick with these mate, all look ace low on big wheels, but if you are intending to leave standard i think the golf looks best. :D

Barn

id go for a golf Neil.

my mate had one, H-reg same as my car...and even tho the paint on his was admitedly sh*t and about 4 different colours all around his car there was no rust on it.

so try and get a convertible one of those I would

Stop getting so stressed out at peoples replies Neil. Half the time you set yourself up for people to reply with sarcy comments.

As for a summer car, YOU'RE the person that's going to be driving, so YOU decide.

It really makes me cringe when people put up posts saying "what should I get?". Everyone has different tastes, so what one person suggests might not be what you would do, hence why people have said not to bother with a summer car and to save the money.

At the end of the day, it's your money, so do what YOU want to do with it. You must have some idea what car you want, so research that car. Theres no point posting messages about golfs or escorts on here either as this is a Nova enthusiasts site. Join up to some golf/escort sites and ask them questions on the cars, as they will be able to help you out more than we can.

Well said. people are only voicing an opinion, its like when people ask for comments about there cars and they moan when negative comments are given.......... some ppl like one thing other ppl like others thats the way the world goes round which is a good thing. If everyone liked the same thing all we would end up with is loads of GSI replicas *cough* we do *cough* but you get the idea.

As regards a 2nd car even tho i still think its mad, during my research the only way i could even start to consider to run 2 cars at once would be to have the non show car as a cheap low powered run around. e.g. 1.0/1.2 or similar. If you can afford to do it on a 1.6 then fair play to ya you must be earning a hell of a lot more than me or im doing sumthing wrong some where!

Thats a load of bullocks,

Running more than one car isn't that hard, you just have to set certain priorities and goals.

Howver I don't think your second car should be a cabriolet.. HOMO!

Dave
26-02-04, 06:19 PM
I'm lookin for a cheap 1.1 fiesta atm while i wait a couple of months for my nova to be done and for some long awaited money to arrive
it can be done as breeny says just have to be careful you know the run about car is a run about an don't spend much money on it
a fiesta is a great example - cheap bits in most scrappy's and a cheapy should hold it's value when it comes to sell it on

Neil.
26-02-04, 06:23 PM
why is everyone getting so touchy on posts and saying what we should and shouldn't post, i can post whatever i like.

And i know people will put stupid imature replies like breenies 'homo' one.

Alot of people on here have got to the point of posting pointless replies and not informative ones.

Why not just reply if u can help or keep quiet, why cause trouble?

I asked other people for their ideas BECAUSE I WANTED TO.

Now will everyone get out of this mode of mindless pointless posts.

If u can help or have info then give it, other wise just keep it to yourself.

I like the golfs too, saw a nice 205 convertable in admag today.

Will keep looking.

i can post whatever i like

true.

untill you get banned

Neil.
26-02-04, 07:41 PM
yeah well dave ban me then, so ill get banned for commenting about how PR!CKS on here start trouble by making comments on something that i NEVER posted in the first place, i have not started anything, oh fvck it, ban me, all the PR!CKS on here are getting beyond a joke anyway, they can amuse their little lives with some other boring shite on someone else.

dave.gsi
26-02-04, 07:43 PM
i cant ban you.

i would if i could because it may stop your insessant whinging and moaning. you need to stop taking people so seriously and learn to take a joke

Neil.
26-02-04, 07:48 PM
well if everyone stopped being fvckers and always bring things up in every post i put then ill stop getting p!ssed off about it.
a joke is something thats FUNNY that is said maybe once or twice but the then stops when its not funny anymore, but the sad gimps that think they 'are all that' keep going on and on about it. cant let it drop. fvck the lot of you, i dont ever put anything against someone or taking the p!ss out of someone, i only retaliate if someone starts something, which they have.

So if u look i haven't STARTED ANYTHING, everyone else has, so banning me would be punishing me for everyone else winding me up. SO why dont they give over and choice someone else as they feel the need to pick on someone, make them feel good no doubt.

The problem is Neil, you've made what other people see as bad decisions.

You bought those alloys for over a grand. You then got your car sprayed in a colour that clashed with them after a load of people did photoshop jobs for you on loads of different colours that worked with the wheels. You have since put them up for sale.

You're car has been in a number of incidents, yet you still spend money on it, after a lot of people have told you to get a new shell as the one you have can't be as strong or as good as it once was.

You bought a 2.0 8v engine, when you could have bought a 2.0 16v engine or tuned a 1.6 8v for what you've spent on the 2.0 8v.

I guess people are tired of giving you their opinions because you ignore them or you get annoyed with them when they suggest something like "save you're money".

I think what you're wanting to hear is "yeah Neil, nice one, you can get an immaculate Mk1 golf gti cabrio for ?800". When in truth ?800 will buy you a crappy old convertable banger that won't last a week, let alone the summer. The fact that you want a "summer car" is puzzling in the first place. Why spend all this money on your Nova only to drive around in a shed during the nicest part of the year.

Either way, it's your money, your life, so do what you want. If you don't want peoples opinions other than those of your mates that'll tell you what you want to hear, then don't post topics asking for peoples opinions. you should know by now how posts get off topic, so don't be surprised when they do.

Jim
