View Full Version : brake choice
i've just got a set of 14" softstars for the nova. i need a new set of brakes so was wondering whats gonna be my best option.
i currently have:
gte callipers/pads with drilled discs
sri callipers
sr callipers
or would i be able to get 16v brakes under the 14's ?
looking for the best possible brake set up at the best price!
anyone got any ideas?
16v Fronts go under certain 14" wheels. Not sure about softstars though?
Chris
The lowest size that 16V go under is 14", but it basically comes down to the design of the wheel which can change certain clearences inside the wheel.

if the 14's are 5.5" wide or larger they should go under
the 16v's are the best of the lot
but u could start by fitting the sri calipers and the drilled GTE disks - if uve got a grinder then take the lip off the disks as this will make them easier to fit

im running astra GTE 16 brakes on mine an i currently have 14inch astra GTE alloys. but yeah anything over 5.5 wide will fit.

if you know someone with 16v brakes, try swapping wheels. lot quicker than fitting on yours only to find they dont fit!

You can take a grinder to the calipers but NOT the disks!
