not the exact answer but we just bought a full cage wich is FIA approved until 2007 and it weighs 35kg for the rear section, front section, 3 x doorbars and 2 x roofbars.

No i was quite suprised when the guy told me how heavy it was.

In total there are 7 bars and the main hoop wich also has a diagnol, i would imagine your looking at between 20-25 kg's for a rear cage only dependent on make etc.

Very possible, i know Dans is an OMP one but am unsure if its a show or competition cage.

Ours is very odd and ive never seen another, it has 2x drivers door bars and one passengers also a reinforcing bar holding the roof bars together, just need it painting now

i wish id have weighed mine before i put it in.

mines only a rear.

i cant think of anything to compare it to to give you an idea.

i regulary lift 15kg cases of sugar at work. and id say that was heavier than my rear cage. cage i could pick up in one hand (holding the hoop). the case of sugar i wouldnt.

email iain@motorsportdirect.co.uk and ask him, he sells loads and posts them so should know how heavy the SD ones are.

Nah i got it secondhand off a guy, he had three but i bought the last one.

Very unusual and also a damn bargain, like i said just need to get it stripped/painted and can fit it.

I'm pretty sure its a competition cage, Dan's car isn't exactly an "all show and no go" Nova, lol.

I've just spoken to Dan, its a 6 point cage with single rear diagonal. It's made by OMP and is an FIA competition cage. Dan paid around ?250 for his, price may vary depending on where you get it from.

and its not the mot man you need to be worried about. he isnt going to mind you adding stick on bits to your car.

its the insurance man

he no likes modifications ESPECIALLY cages.

my cage didn't affect my insurance in either the turbo or the purple nova

My cage got delivered yesterday.. Wasn't that heavy but it wasn't something I expected to see sitting outside as I walked round the side of the house

Get a full one u pussy.. a rear cage won't do that much except weigh the car down.. and don't even think about leaving your rear seats in! :P
