heres three ive picked out:

Toyo PROXES T1-S: ?62 (?248 x4)

Goodyear EAGLE F1 GS-D3: ?89.40 (?357.6 x4)

Falken ZE-512: ?62.50 (?250 x4)

knowledge of tyres is not that great.

toyo proxies are the third cheapest :o out of all the tyres i couldda chose. at ?62 sounds like their a bargain.

hear horror stories about them being that soft you get through them quick....?

any gen from people using these tyres?

i have toyo proxes and they have lasted 5 months on the front but the back are still like new. I light up the tyres every time i accelerate. They have about another month left in them, they are truely abused with 225bhp going thru them. I'm buyin more though. But check this link out

Four toyo proxes 195/45/16 158.80

yeah - i need to run 17s, so there a little more. ^^^ prices above.

but i think i will go for toyos.

they dont need to be the most expensive set all i need is a decent set on these rims.

ill be examining my choice of tyre MUCH more closely for my track day rims

cheers for that

the advantage of the toyos if they have a cool thing call rin protection. It is a tiny lip that sticks out of the tyre (not noticible) and when pushed in (like when hitting a curb) it folds over the rim so it protects it but when the wheel it not hitting a curb you can still see the whole rim

they seem to be a popular choice amongst the modding "fraternity".. .. ..

ill be making a purchase i think unless someone leaves some shocking post in the next few days :!:

just looked a tht etyre review and the toyo has quite a low wear rating and a very low grip in snow rating. But for dry and wet braking it scored almost top marks. Shouldn't get anymore snow until next winter although i did get snow yesterday.

mike i wudnt go for proxies

grip beter than proxies in the dry, grip MUCH better in the wet, and last longer!!

 coorr blimey i dont know

i could just spend a little extra and get the tried and tested goodyears.

but there not my track or sprint wheels, so does it really matter? if i could save a penny or two it would be better.

hummmmm

if i were you get the proxes for the road, and the money you save, spend on getting some faptastic track tyres. You'll be glad you did when you get on that track and beat EVERYONE round the first corner!!!!

Dicko

they will last longer anyways. surely thats worth considering

up to you :P

even if the eagles last two months more than the toyo's, they still cost more per month. (based on toyo lasting 6 months)

^^^^^ There complete trifle lol

I know a hell of a lot of people who swear by Toyo's (Including cars used for track days). Thats what will be going on my new wheels. IMO No point in 'performance' tyres if your running 17's anyway, complete waste of time.

Toyo's may wear slightly quicker but thats because there a softer compound hence why they grip better.

Have never driven on the goodyears so I couldn't comment. THis thread sounds a bit like such and such a tyre is the best.. well it must be if its on my own car

Get yourself some 15's Mike and 185/55/15 Toyo's... use your 17's for show use or whatever..

breeny i think we had this convo b4 but iirc you were running on 17's which are shite for traction / cornering abilty on a nova anyway. too big and not enuf sidewall to get moving around. ive had novas for 8 years running the same wheels and ive had a fair few sets of tyres and i can honestly say the bfgoodrich are the best ive found so far. everyones opinions will be different.

17's are crap for handling? Didn't know that   My opinion's arn't just based on my own ownership of said tyres.. Theres a reason why Halfrauds sell them with there alloys... There cheap, nasty rubbish (oops forgot the "IMO" bit there)

Your correct, opinions are like arseholes, everyone has one

i ran some falkern ZE502'S for a year, pile of arse lol

Pirelli P-Zeros were on me dads Rover 620 Ti, ate a set of 4 evern 9 months and were pish in the wet.

been in cars with F1's and Toyos on, fair to say both seem to grip rather well lol

I shall be getting the toyos in dinky format for the project lol

i use the f1's which are nice.

if you are going for 17's you want some tyres without rim protection because clearance will be tight as it is.
when i got my alloys i got 195/45/15 tyres with no rim protection, and no rubbing. when they died i got eagle f1's in the same size and the rim protectors catch on the arches.

Hankooks!! Had them on the mazda and grip better than anything I've used before. ?25 per tyre (165/70/R12 though)

Nova is on Camacs - which are crap. My mates runs on Goodyears which cost ?40 a tyre and are also crap. Expensive tyres are no better than cheap 1s, it's all about selecting the right tread for your needs. (don't ask me, the guy who orders them does all that for me!)

I have toyos on the turbp (16" @ ?40 a tyre) and Avon ZV-1 on the purple nova. The avons are superb in the wet under braking but not so good round corners in the wet. In the dry they are good all round. Wear quite quickly though.

I will stick to these tyres until they invent hover cars!

as breeny picked upon..... 17s are for show and cosmetic use. which will be most of time.

only my track day rims and pod wheels will be super stikcy and ill choose them more carefully.

im just after some nice pattern tread tyres. that will be safe enough for road use. i like to do some B road bahsing you see. we have a holiday home thing in wales :P 8)
