tappet type noises in the morning!!

hi,

My engine is quite tappity in the morning, goes away after 5 mins, i serviced it and t was doing it before, so it was ok for a week then tappity again in the mornings,

Just the tappets noisey?? what would remedy this?

The oil has to get from the bottom of the engine to the top probably why mate.once the oil get round the engine it stop's you'll probably find alot of people's cars do the same.

try a slightly thicker oil, I.e instead of 10w/40 go for 15w50 or the like

thicker oil will make it worse??

the ticking occurs because the tappets arent fully pressurised due to build up of crud inside them

using thicker oil is just gonna make it even harder to pressurise

throw a can of engine flush in and then do an oil change with decent quality oil

see how that goes

i see your point, but if the oil is thicker, then it wont drain out of the tappets so quick in the first place.

bingo = problem solved :P

quick blip of throttle, will increase engine revolutions, which increases the amount of revolutions the oil pump turns. more pump = more oil. more oil = gets quicker to top of engine.

wot engine is it? i no with the 20xes if u wanna strip the head down u can clean the valve lifters which should quieten them up..
