The police round where i live are such time wasters they pulled me over the other night,so when i stoped this female copper walkwd round my car(i think she was looking to try find something to catch me out on)
so she comes to the windo and say's do you know why i pulled you over? No i said! she asked me to step out the car,she asked me to look at the front, and said tell me what's not right there?
i was stupid and said"what ive got a different bumper on"
Now being smart was not a good idea!
"NO SIR THATS NOT WHAT I MENT" she said back..so she says it's your number plate! it's too small..oh i said...as if i didnt know..any way then i get breathalised and a producer, plus ?30 fine for the plate,im not to fussed its just the fact that i was doing nothing wrong in the first place!

Who thinks it was the type of car i drive for there main reson to stop me??
well they dont get much crime round my way so you get use to it after a while..being stopedf that is..
so how many othere people get this sort of thing happening to them???

How old are you? Chances are they saw a young driver driving a modified car. IT was probably a routine stop, the fact that you had a small numberplate was all they needed to give you a producer. Had you not have been lippy and said "oh, it's only temporary until I get a replacement for my original as it got damaged" they probably would have been alright with you.

If you've done nothing wrong then theres nothing they can do other than make you wait a few mins whilst they check your car over.

If it happens again, next time just be patient and polite.

will be 24 this year.
but yeah it was stupid of me to think they would have a sence humour..but no so..i was just driving home from a mates house, not speedin nothing..but what got to me was the fact they could not see my front plae from behinde me could they?not till she wallked round the car! so it seems to me they just pulled me cus of the car then got lucky on my plate once they wallked round...like i say im not to fussed ill change plate and pay the fine..

you just have to think like a police man to realise why they stopped you.

And i bet they lay awke at night incase someone with a small number plate drives by!. There would be world peace if everyone had proper number plates (my arse)1!!! :(

My best mate got stopped for his number plate. Hes 21 and drives a ford cougar, but his number plate is actually illegal. Hes been driving round our home town (Scunny) for bout 8/9 months with it on, he went out lincoln one sunday and got stopped, got a ?30 fine, a producer and he had to go to court. What a waste of time. When he got to court all they said he had to do was take his number plates to the cop shop. When he got there they asked him what he had took them in for. He explained the judge said he had to, then they gave him em back and told him to go on his way.

WASTE OF TIME I THINK SO!!

think from the police point of view.

look theres a vauxhall nova. young lad driving it. been done up. its a car thats likely to get nicked. is the driver the real owner?? has it just been stolen? he looks young to drive that powerful car, is he properly insured for it?

lets face it most novas are driven by scally tossers so have probably got drugs on them or are wanted on a warrant. it only takes them a few minutes to check it out.

if its happening on a regular basis then you can start to moan.

just think if your car did get nicked and the police didnt stop it how pissed you'd be. random stop checks help you as well as them

never sit in the car... dive out and walk up the the passenger side window.... make it known that you are pissed off with being pulled.. having your docs in you hand is even better

Wen ever i get pulled i grab documents straight away and have them on my lap, wind down window and talk to bloke or woman.

Worse time was wen they had set up a mobile MOT station, checking tyres, all lights and emisions. never heard of them before. it passed luckly tho.

never sit in the car... if they are looking down on you they are in control... i like to be stood by the police car while they are finshing the pnc check... documents in hand looking at the copper... the when they open door/window i say "evening office how can i help you"

Always, always, ALWAYS get out of the car to speak to the policeman/woman, Like Ste says, if you sit in the car it makes them look down on you and gives them a sense of power, also it makes you look less arrogant and lazy if you get out.
Whenever I've been pulled over I always stop the car (remembering to use mirrors and indicate!!), remove seatbelt, turn stereo down and get out and walk to their car (Most of the time they don't get out straight away).

I've been 'advised' to change number plates on a few occasions, but as of yet no fines (Fingers crossed).

It's a 'respect' thing, it shows you respect them so they'll normally treat you with a bit in return.

Think ill do that from now on. once police man said after they did a Full drug check of car, my tyres were a bit worn on inside, i played dumba dn just agreed with him and was polite, he just said to make sure it dont get too bad.

i HATE when people refer to guys in modified cars being pulled by cops as

"Routine Check" bullsh*t... whats routine about it... if i drive my 1 litre saloon around i never get stoped to check my tire tread or anything...

As soon as i get in my wide arched one they try to pull me for anything... they've even tested my windows to let light through and they aint even tinted  tw@ts

iv been pulled over so many times now, im used to it, you just gotta be as polite as possible and they're normally fine.

you just gotta look at it this way.........if your car was knicked wouldnt you hope that the person/wanker got pulled over?!?!

I'm tempting fate by saying this, but I've never been stopped by the police. The only time I did have a police car pull up to me was when I was putting my car in the garage. Had to reverse my g/f's car off the drive (which I did without switching her lights on) then I went to get into my car to put it in the garage. The police pulled over and one asked what I was up to, the other one had a look at what I was doing and said "putting your car in the garage?" I replied, "yeah" and he said "ok, sorry to trouble you" and drove off.

Powerfull car!! a vauxhall nova?, only people like us know that there are some powerfull nova's on the roads :D

you must think the police are stupid. What do you think they were doing when they were 17? riding round on thier choppers? twat

They did the same as us. Bought cheap cars that were easy to modify like mk1/2 escorts. Then they put 2.0 8v pinto engines in. They know the game better than us.

hmmm how many people buy nova's and do an engine conversion? Police look @ Nova's and think other things not POWERFULL. more like Boy Racer in his wannabe fast car.

there are sum very fast nova's on the road but the majority of nova's by along way maybe nippy for what they actually are but unfortunatly arnt what i would call powerfull and are well known for not being powerfull at all.

As for the attitude purpleNova if you get pissed of by nl members opions then you are very sad!

Who let the air out of your tyres? I was saying police know whats going on. I didn't say we all do engine conversions. But the majority of cars down southend had had the engine tinkered with and not all of then declare those mods to the insurance company.

Ben3042

Fortunatlly no one has touched my tyres!

Funny you should say that because i though most of the cars down southend have had big bodykits fast and the furious style stickers slapped up the side and alloy spoilers bodged onto the back of them.

Although dont get me wrong there are a number of nice cars down there :D

i always laugh at the crappy cars with more rust than paint and neons so low under the car the scrape on the floor. But then i think back to what my first nova looked like.

Not anymore though!

You'd be surprised how many people do engine conversions. You only have to look through the forums to see post after post about 2.0 16v conversions.

I read throught the posts and yes their lots of post about engine conversions But most of them are from people who are thinking about doing it and never actually bother!

the number of converted numbers is on the rise and it will eventually outnumber the standard novas because converted novas are better looked after and worth more so less likely to be scraped! Also, standard minters are being bought by people to convert!

scott.parker
24-02-04, 11:37 PM
good point mate..i some times think maybe i should just turn my car into a standard minter, cus it was allmost that when i bought it...and was thinking of getting a shaddy gte to convert???? im so confused as what to do..
but thats not the point of the topic...

I have just cleared out the 2nd garage so as soon as i find a mint nova i'm getting it. Regardless of engine or trim. Preferably sr or above. Everything will be replace so it is as new including a full engine build. But everything kept standard. Only vauxhall parts used. Thats my goal.
