just got my -30mm rear springs back from coilsprings today having been lowered another 60mm.

what an excellent job those guys have done.

it sits just as i want it, and to size it all up before i order my irmscher softstars, i borrowed 2 of my mates alessios for trial.

here are a couple of pics, just to note the front coilovers need to be wound down about 10-15mm again . (kept it up while im working on it)

Astra mk4 rear door handle

i did the drivers door myself, ALOT of customising and head scratching. took so long and so much effort i just flushed the pass side completley.

i had -30mm rear springs in the coilover kit, i then sent them to coilsprings to be lowered another 260mm and hey presto, few days later, their on the car looking fine.

also id like to note STANDARD rear arches too, no cutting about at all

yeah it's fairly nice. like the front bumper most. dont like the handles myself, for what work it took seems like more trouble than it's worth.

How much do coilsprings charge to re-wind four springs lower???

the handles look like theyve been fitted by a blind monkey in the first pic. doesnt look slightly smooth.

apart from that nice fuck.ing job :+:

Looks good, preffered the Corsa alloys though..

Rick its ?55 to reprofile 2 springs.. but if its for coilovers I wouldn't bother as you can get springs in different Ibs "off the shelf" at places like Tweeks etc They will actually make up a set of springs suitable for a nova aswell which IMO is a better idea than playing with old springs.

the pics arent great, but thanks for the feedback

i sent them some newish -30mm springs and they came back re coated and like brand new. cant recommend them enough. also, none of the coils are touching each other when the cars sat. well, chuffed.

still got a way to go on the car, wheels and tyres are due 2moro, and i'll get the rear bumper on weekend and take some fresher pics.

cheers

Lookin sweet as dude... I still say add a Laguna splitter and some chrome bumper inserts to go with the mirrors and the fuel cap...

Keep it up...

elgan
28-02-04, 02:30 PM
i was thinking of adding a small splitter, astra mk4 or similar, but the car has no skirts and a std rear so it might look out of place?

Like it alot mate, look forward to seeing the finished car.

Are those aftermarket englemann mirrors you have on, chrome finish?

andyrs1800
28-02-04, 04:28 PM
It would look spot on, only about 1inch deeper, nova's look sweet without the skirts...

scott.parker
01-03-04, 08:48 PM
the mk4 astra one dose work very well, though it looks more in place on the mk1 front..

the drop looks spot on m8, not front heavy like most novas you see knocking around. well done!

IMO tho i would have added the vinyl to the B pillar or got some GSI window surrounds just to split it up a bit. what other plans you got?

elgan
01-03-04, 09:30 PM
i think ive got a mk4 splitter lying about, will try it

not sure on the mirrors karl, everyone says leave em chrome, i tend to think they look cheesy. maybe ille paint them metallic silver similar to the softstars and fuel cap or flame red.

i will get some new pics done weekend with most of the interior fitted up etc.. Things are really taking shape here now.

remaining jobs are..
Alarm
Electric Windows
Small Wiring such as boot, glovebox, ashtray, dash and sunvisor lights
Front arches need rolling as i liek the coilovers set low
Small Amount of welding to o/s chassis rail
M.O.T.
Need to hurry up and buy some Corbeau Evolution Front Seats (touring car style) and some 3" red luke harnesses (Anyone got any for sale??)
I would be happy to use the 1.0 engine to get it about initially but hope an engine will be sorted over the next month, 2.0 16v and t45's.

That would be it pretty much for this year, will be adding little bits here and there, then will leave the stripped out interior as something to do next year, as guaranteed by the time next year comes it will need some welding somewhere

cheers again for the comments!

i'd say paint the mirrors red definately
