what do you think.....

It is with regret and anticipation that I have decided to tender my letter of resignation, effective of 6th March 2004. As you may know I have chosen to pursue a career related to my degree, which also pays a lot more than junior retail management! I have however enjoyed my position at Sainsburys, both at the old and the new store and believe that I have given and received a lot during my five and a half years service, even though I am frustrated at some of the working practices.

I would like to wish all colleagues at the Hitchin Store continued success in the future. Please feel free to contact me at any time if I can be of further assistance in helping with a smooth transition.

Yours Sincerely

I am keeping it relatively nice, just in case. Anything anyone else would like to add (it has to be relatively professional as i need the reference)

sounds very good. but as i know what (well what i have heard about sainsburys) they are a right nasty lot to work for. you forgot the key words!

Fu*K off you bunch of twats!

fair play to you thou mate. it is so easy to get stuck in the same roll as it pays the bills. well done for going after what you did your degree in.

i want to be sarcastic if anything, as i need the reference but i did have some discrepiencies (spelling) with them.
As a whole they are not a bad company to work for, so i wish to leave on relatively good terms, although i would like to point out that i will be earning about double what they offered me lol. At the end of the day, if it all goes tits up (which is doubtful, but possible) i would like to have an open position there.

and fcuking hell! 5 years at sainsbury's! thats like a prison sentence!
It wasn't too bad as i work on the beers, wines and spirits aisle so i am knowledgable about wine and i get some good deals (23 cans of fosters, ?4 OK then lol)

looks good bt dont mention you didnt like the working practices nor the money - lets face it the main reason why anyone would leave a job for a new one is money, so they already know that

Alex

well quite honestly they already know that i dont like the money or working practices. I suggested so may things which i know for a fact would improve the store and its efficiency, but the managers could be arsed to implement.

Know a girlie called Jade who lives in Hitchin!
Now Ex GF works in Sainsburys, seems like they have got some daft ideas about how they manage their staff and the working practices.. Letter sounds fine, you want to leave on good terms to get the best possible reference!

don't forget to say that the actual REAL REASON FOR LEAVING is because they wouldn't let you have ''Bsc Hons" on your namebadge.

If that's the REAL reason, go to Maccy D's they'll let you have it on your badge

The last resignation i gave was a speech in front of the owner of the company, the 2 managers and 2 of the foreman

I said " Fuck your job you bunch of wankers as from now im leaving whether you like it or not, i want the week in hand and this weeks money and my p45 now"

Im still proud of it to this day, they were just about to give me the sack so i told them that, you should have seen their faces

That way when i go for a job interview and get asked " Have you ever been dismissed from work?" I can say no.

:D

Not as good as me noticing a flaw in a companies policy and exploiting that flaw to get sacked 'accidentally on purpose' and then suing them for quite a lot of compensation, even though i was just about to quit anyway. I rode them like a pony.

Also, there is NOTHING better than what Edward Nortons character in Fight Club did! i.e. where he beat the shit out of hismself and threw himself into shelves/through a glass table, then crawled up to the managers feet and begged him not to hit him again JUST as the security came in through the door. Brilliant! And i WILL try that out myself one day.
