I doubt that. at the end of the day you haven't been driving on public roads with other cars around for that long. You may have been able to move the car and change gears many years ago, but that is a totally different type of driving.
At the end of the day, you are still 17 (almost 18 ) and no matter how good a driver you may be, the insurance company wont know that and would rather not insure you on a gte. I would recommend getting a smaller engined car. you can still modify that, and when you are 19 you can put a bigger engine in.

insurance is a pain in the ass, we all know that, but you might as well follow the rules and go along with it, as it will benefit you in the long run, be patient for your highly tuned powerful motor, the insurers wont be so unkeen to insure you!

im 21, and driving round in a 1.2i, although i am paying ?1100 fully comp, and its my first year, so im not complaining! but you think i want a 1.2i? yeah right!! id prefer a 2.0 16v turbs kicking out 300bhp with N20 :D

i paid ?498 for my 1.2 with 90bhp 1.4 engine transplanted at 19 with HIC :P i win, as for driving like a 21 yr old thats rubbish and also insure is based on stats, live with it we all had to at 17,18, i drove my 1.2 for 2 yrs and was happy cause i cud drive, i know drive a gsi and im 21 nearly if i had that at 17 id have killed myself for sure!!!!

LV normally wudnt touch u on a gte til 21 so count lucky they said 19, anton insured a gte at 18 it wont be cheap, think abt the sri if u insist on power........ u wil insure that

will

im 18...insured on 1.4SR....quick enough for me at the moment.
fcuk, i learned to drive in a 1.3 Ka...the step up to my SR was enough to get used to at first. don't get me wrong I'd love some twin 40s on my SR but even then :?: ...something like a 2.0 don't even come into the equation at the mo.
put it this way...my mate had like 7 lessons or something and passed first time as he had been driving since he could see over the dash and he aint that good a driver . I aint no Seb Loeb but u do know if someone is a good driver or a bad driver.

like ste suggested get a 1.2 (i personally couldn't live with that... ...lol) so I got a 1.4SR but i wouldn't go for a 2.0.

anyway my 2p
