my Nova was my second car, my first was a 1.1 fiesta. I kitted it out o look like the mk2 XR2 but I soon realised that the XR2 is shit as well !!!

ian, you persist in bringing up the peugeot 306 comment. Now it may not be aimed at myself, but i feel that you are going through some sort of mental disorder stage. The chemicals in your body are not balanced. This does not mean that you are sick, or that you are super human, it just means that what you say and what actions you take are affected by the in-balance.

Your comment regarding the Peugeot 306 is extremely similar to a case in the U.S where a doctor (Dr. Marvin Camsie i think?!?!?) discovered that people who lash out on an offensive, or make comments that are not at all related to the current topic are in fact inbalanced. The same goes for those, who have a constant dislike to homosexuals e.t.c. His theory concluded in saying that those who do go off at a tangent like ian, actually feel threatened by the opposing subject. So in this case, you automatically defended your nova by saying that people who drive/buy a Peugeot 306 are middle aged. In this particular case, i drive a 306 and am not middle aged, but in fact am younger than yourself.

The Cause

Well it originates from a lack in self confidence, maybe a tragic childhood, no love from parents or just simply constant taunting about 1 of your features, any of these can result in the inbalance and the persistance in "going in for the Attack".

Now as you read this, you will be thinking oh i know what i'll say, i will say something amusing, and witty, because you are afraid of the truth. This may sound far fetched but it is a proven study, a case that was also studied, was people who called homosexuality, did eventually have gay intentions.

sorry ste but my first car is a mint Sri and hasn't been bashed yet(too hard!!) Just a small front ender that ain't my fault.It is the cleanest Nova inmy area ( every1 says so) and is wuite standard bar the engine which is become a 1.4 16 valver soon! Oh yeah I'm also 17 so I think some respect is due for havin such a nice nova and payin for almost all(Halfed wif parents for crimbo).Oh yeah I also pay ALL bills for it :)

I will not say something witty, as it seems you are very misunderstood, confused and alone, we should be supporting you in your hour of need. As for calling gays? What makes you say that? I have friends who are gay and it makes no difference, and i can assure you that my girlfriend will vouch for me. Maybe she can have a chat with your girlfriend about helping you release all this pent up aggression.

I think all us nova owners should help davo in his hour of need, i will start the ball rolling by pledging ?5 towards counselling, together we can help him over his inferiority complex and drug addiction, maybe get him back to a normal life and nova driving again.

As for Fenix, i feel that cruises in most cases are a waste of fuel and an un-entertaining night for my age. I enjoy clubbing at the weekends, and feel that ?40-?50 is better spend getting drunk is a lot better than travelling for 3 hours to get to a place to stand round in the cold, saying "oh, thats a nice car" or "wow, look at that wheel". I have been to a couple of cruises, and they have been ok?? Maybe if they were closer tohome then i would participate.

I am grateful for the "help Davo" appeal, but i feel it is un-necessary. I am completely mentally stable, and regarding ians comments about i have to be mad to drive a peugeot? Well its just i dont want to be in a nova for the rest of my life, unlike a few of you out there. Novas have a bad name on the street, and you all know that.

Ian, you also prooved the study correct, as you wrote a witty comment putting me down. So tell us, is there something in your life that has been the focus of all attention? Were you picked on as a child? Were you shown no love by your parents?

As an extra for the study, in most cases the person suffering from the inbalance, usualy tries to protect ones self in some sort of shell, something that is smiled upon by others. Hence why you are spending all your money on your Car. Dont get me wrong your car is nice, and i do like novas, but i feel that novas are for the 17-19 genre NOT 19+.

Like i have said in the past and i WILL say it again, its my opinion, and nobody can take that away from me. I thought i would make you aware of the study, and how few of the responses prooved the theory right.

17-19. Hmm i'm 22 and i made a decision to get a nova as my first car, invest in it and keep that car for three years. That was an in depth decision which took me a lot of time and research. the other cars i looked at were a MK1 MR2, Bmw 3 Series old shape, or a brand new Saxo VTR/VTS on a massive finance deal.

After realising i didn't want to be in debt for the next five years with a car that depreciates massively due to the high numbers around. I settled for the nova.

Why?

Well it's a small and light car. Quite quick and cheap to insure for a new driver. IT's cheap to maintain and upgrade possibilities are endless. It also gives me lots of spare money to make my car unique.

People will take the mick out of my car all the time. After all i'm a skilled professional earning a good wage and chose to buy a nova for ?1000. Some people see their car as a way to express their individuality in the same way as some people choose clothes that i would consider mad.

At the end of the day though i don't look at those people and think they must be disturbed. Their just different and brave enough to express themselves.

If you want to go the psychological route though......

I decided to by a Nova @ 22, after previously owning an Uno turbo. Cars cant be put into age ranges.

that is corect ian i did make all that up, but it bases upon you. You are probably the most predictable person on the site. If anybody insults your car, you or anything you care for, you get your back up. Your opening to my reply was to start a retorical question implementing that peugetos have a bad name on the street. The fact is my liverpudlian friend is that novas are boy racer cars and i do not want to be branded as one.

Fenix your decision for a nova is smiled upon, you are a sound minded person that obviosily has other interests including saving money, full respect for that.

Once again, i do not hate other makes of cars and my aim in life is not to piss other car owners off, but you all seem to be defending the novas as if its your goal in life, which is best described as pathetic.

Regarding the safari 306, well ian, unlike you i do not live with my parents, i have gained my independance, and to that there is a cost of living something that you are probably not aware of!?!?!? I am also currently looking to buy my own house, therefore my car is not my priority, but at least i can look back over the past 6 months and say that i have lived life for the majority of oppotunites laid out in front of me. At least i do have something to show for the time i have spent living away from my parents, it makes it worth while. If somebody torched your car now, what would you have to show for all your hard work, time and effor spent on your car, absolutely nothing, and your total status would dissapear completely. If somebody torched my car, i would be exremely upset, but i know that i could get on with my life as normal, and buy a new car, and my status would not be affected. Don't get me wring i do not want to tempt fate and i do not widh it upon anybody - but the fact is the point is still there.

Regarding my job, you proved the theory correct again, you lashed out. Are you ashamed of your job? Are you worried that 5 - 1- or even 15 years down the line you will be doing the same job working for insurance? Ian maybe its time for you to change your life style, you may kid yourself that you are happy, but inside there is a little boy crying out, trying to get out of this loop that you have got yourself entangled in.

I moved out ian for the main reason to be close to work, to gain independance, and to move further in my life.

Regarding paulrobos response, i too get my back up if anybody insults my car, as i have worked hard for it, but i have no disrespect for any other car on the road as long as it is road legal. Ian, regarding your house, you still live with your parents and drive your mothers car, need i say more?

I love my family, and they love me. They respect my decision to move out. There were no problems at home, and they are extremely proud of me. I have a girlfriend to, and a nice car. So your saying ian if your car got torched, you would build another nova?

My car was also bought for practicality, its safer than a nova (touch wood!), airbag (not that want to have to use it) e.t.c.
I could easily afford to spend a lot on my orange pride and joy to make it into a safe nice car, but what was the point?

Regarding the house i am currently living in, the price is good, but whats the price for exceelent experience and independance? Whats the cost of living life?

I in no way want to fall out with my liverpudlian friend, but you criticise everybody who is different to you. Why? IF i dont drive a nova, i am not on the same level as you? All i can say is that im individual and proud, something which you have to overcome in your future.
