Hello all,
i have just been looking at some Astras for sale on MIG, and i can honestly say that they do look good. The 3door hatchbacks.
And for a 1.4 Astra they look pretty good for a first car in insurance terms.
Take a look at this one for sale for ?1400,

And this one for a ?1000:-

What do you guys think, they are just a more modern Nova, it is only K reg as well. And from ones i have been driven in they also seem more reliable than some Novas.

Yeah i know it is quite a lot ?1400, i would prefer a Nova because they look quick and nippy. But the MK3 astras are a nice alternative. Even though most Novas i have seen for sale aren't what i call mint and are still about ?1000. But i have seen some proper mint Novas for around the ?1200 mark.

Does anyone know if this Nova got sold from a while back. It is what i would call a pretty mint Nova.

I wasn't going to buy one, i was just asking what you guys thought of them.
I will defo be getting Nova, hopefully something like that one in the link above.
I will probably get a Nova over Astra because of their size, they are a proper hot hatch, and i have just looked and seen that a 1.4i Astra in some forms is insurance group 6 and some 1.4;s are group 8. And for those groups i can get either a 1.4/1.3SR or SRi.
Thanks for your input anyway guys

both look like nice motors, however i would be a bit suspicious about the car with the nova gte engine that is now for sale for ?1400. At the top of the post the owner says

"unfortunately my astra has to be sold due to insurance companies "

preseuamably because the premiums are too expensive...fair enough. but at the end of the post he says the following...

"I will swap for a Nova GSI or MINT Nova GTE, Or a Corsa GSI"

cars which all have the same insurance group or higher that a gte engined astra. car could be a dog, especially if the price has dropped by ?400.

just an observation

I myself prefer the mk2 Astra Gte to Astra Gsi's.

I have driven both but the Gsi didnt feel sporty for some reason however in the Gte now that was a ride. More a drivers car if you know what I mean. I like Gsi's, dont get me wrong but as these cars got newer, they got heavier, fatter etc, Gte was a car and a half in its time and still is.
