right im really in two minds at the mo, iv got about 3k saved up to either spend on a new car or to spend on my car.......

at the mo im looking at getting a clio 1.8 16v, 136bhp as standard, excellent handling.....not many many tuning possibilities (only conversion is the williams engine which is $$$$) whats really stopping me from getting this car is reliability, iv heard of a lot of things going wrong on em from ppl on cliosport. 3 k would buy me an excellent condition, low mileage, fsh example

or

i could spend 3k on my car, gsi dash, coilovers, 16v brakes, and the engine.......i was thinking of a 1.6 8valve with t40's for cheap power, or a 1.6 16v, mantzel power box, tb's etc and i know the car would be reliable, i guess iv just answered my own question really! but any input??

i was thinking of a 1.6 8valve with t40's for cheap power, or a 1.6 16v, mantzel power box, tb's etc and

To be honest, it would be a lot cheaper to stick in a 2.0 16v engine. For a couple hundred you can get yourself a 2.0 16v and have around 150bhp under your right foot from a standard engine.

keep the car mate. no questions asked. or give it to me and i'll be your bestest mate in the whole wide world :D

i'd say psend 1k on it. tart up the other bits that you want, digi dash, cat 1 alarm coilovers. then save again. get a 1.6 lump in to bide time, then get all the bits together and drop the 2l valver in. by that time, you'd have saved more and secondly you'll have more ncb.

Meanwhile on the clio board:

"dump the nova and get a clio mate!"

lol! Of course people on this site will say keep the nova... but seen as you've put a fair bit of work in so far getting it mint, you might as well carry on and spend a bit more :)

Cool, keep us updated how you get on with the engine mate... i'm in two minds (well, ok four minds!!) about what engine to put in mine at the moment, so i'm trying to get a flavour of how much work is invovled with each engine.

if i was making that decision myself now, there'd be no decision to make to be honest. the nova would go.
