Well over the last 6 months We've been building my new engine. It's a 1.6 16v on TBs, lightened & balanced overbore etc. Over the last 2 weeks we finally got the time start the conversion.

We started of with the repaint of the engine bay and welded in a Hockley plate kit as well.

Rubbing down and filling took a couple of days to get it right. I'm not 100% happy with it but without proper bodyshop tools.... But now it's painted it looks great :D

On Wednesday night we finally fitted the engine in. PhilM, PeteG and myself took our time but it fits like a glove.

It'll take a few more weeks before I drive it but it's all simple jobs like re-looming the injection system and water pipes :D

I stripped the block so painting that wasn't a problem. Painting the G/box needs you to be patient and clean it with parafin until it's spotless, then soapy water. I then pour bioling water over it to totally de-grease it. Painted in silver Smoothrite, as is the block, heads in black.

I have painted the servo and master cylinder. But carefully masked the faces. I thought with the engine being the centre if attention I'd blend the rest of the bay into the background :D

Tilly is picking up her pink box tomorrow, she's fine thanks for asking.

Well, what a few days "getting on with it" can do. The car is now on its wheels though the BTB manifold is a tight fit and required the weight on the driveshaft to be moved over, also the Lambda boss is drilled into the top and is now hard up against the car - no probe going in there then. we have stripped the whole loom and pulled back the wires for the MBE interface and re-wrapped the loom. This is now all in place, as are the headlights.

Tomorrow will see the ECU and injection loom finished being made up and installed, though we'll not run it up until sometime next week when the radiator turns up. I'm off on business for a couple of days anyway....
