how do you no when piston no1 is at tdc?

u take the rocker cover off and then u turn the engine over by hand untill no 1 piston's rockers r flat and also no 3 aswell, and so no 2 an 4 pistions rockers r on the rock if u take the spark plug out of no 1 piston u can put a thin long screwdriver through the plug hole and when no 1 piston is at tdc wiv the rockers as described above the screwdriver shud have almost been pushed out of the plug hole. hope this helps u :)

alternatively...... look at the bottom pulley of the engine that drives the alternator, and line the mark up with the cam cover housing.

similary. if the engine is complete then the bottom mark should line up with the top one if your engine is timed correctly.

so take the cam cover off and make sure the top sproket lines up with the cut out of the top of the cam belt cover.......
