I'm at it again, midnight mods, just finished taking off the inlet and exhaust manifold from the old head and getting them ready for the new head, i also gave the exhaust manifold a clean up with drill and wire attatchment, prob woke some ppl up at 2.30am

Got 22 spline gte drivehafts, brand new at ?80 each, would of been about ?60 but cant get them without the CV's so ive got some brand new GTE CV's i wont be using, any1 want them?

Also got brand new Cav mk2 CV's to put on the shafts.

Also today i got me new disks and pads for me cav GSI callipers.

Me and mike will be starting about 8am, depending on what time he gets his ass here! Re-building the engine from block upwards, inlcuding wiring and plumbing.

So far this conversion has cost me:-

Cav SRi Engine with work done to it: ?200
Half a Cav for doner parts: ?150
Engine mounts: ?60
Brake callipers/discs/pads: ?65
Brand new GTE(22 spline) shafts and Cav mk2 inner CV's: ?220
Fuel pump: ?20
Gaskets and ameanaties: ?85

Total: ?800

Will let u know tonight(wednesday) how me and mike get on.

Now going to bed for the 4 hours sleep im going to get.

Well the story from today, after droping a hevy engine on mikes knee we got to work on rebuilding the engine, put the head on with injection system, thats fine, then cam housing, then realising we forgot the cam followers :P, luckly we had only just layed cam housing on and not done bolt up or anything. then connected all hoses, then spent 2 hours trying to sort out wiring and figuring out why it wouldn't move the cam belt or anything, relised imobiser was on as alarm went into pannic mod coz battery went flat
charged battery up and the starter motor moves everything:)

Went to pick up the brand new driveshatfs i brought and got them back, took cv's off and found out they were 28 spline, the guy who delivered them had given wrong ones

So miek has gone home and will have to wait another week.

I HATE DRIVESHAFTS!

im having ALOT of trouble with the driveshafts aswell but i was thinking, if u fitted a gte gearbox to the 8v then put gte shafts which u can get easy would that work?

i might be opeining myself up for all kind of abuse but what the hell!
why didn't you build the engine up outside the car and have all the bits you needed already ordered/sourced? it would have saved loads of time plus you still would have been able to have your car to drive about in :?

I cant belive your having this much crap fitting an 8v

Neil.

it wouldn't of mattered making the engine b4 puting it into the car coz it had to go in from undernieth, and the gear box on old engine was knackered so it didnt move.

Ordered them from Cossvaux in sheff, they've now found the long 22 spline shafts, trying to find short one now.

Only hassle is driveshatfs, everything else is done.
