Neil, may I ask how much it was? I'm looking into intercoolers at the mo.

Was it a custom one or a generic off the shelf jobby?

Neil I would be very interested in how you route your boost pipes for your new intercooler. I have been looking at a new intecooler for my car but recently abandoned the idea because I couldnt see any room to route the boost pipes.

Breeny

CMatty..

You can route the boost pipes either side of the radiator. Theres is just enough room!

looks wicked.

I hate seeing all these pics of intercoolers and turbo's etc. Makes me want one.

if you wanted to route the pipes either side of the radiator, is it best to have 90 degree bends made on the end of the intercooler and how much of the stanrad piping can you keep and what needs replacing?

Nahh Dan, N/A all the way ;) Get some carbs or throttle bodies on your engine, much more manly than a turbo ;)

/me awaits abuse and a slap from Breeny, lol

Screen looks nice along with the intercooler. ur cars gonna be even madder than before

NovaNeil

The intercooler is Universal and from Forge... I think the dimensions were 670 x 160 x 60mm(its on there website). The Forge logo was sprayed on for free  It cost an Awesome ?180 + VAT!!! :o Which is amazing considering the quality of it!

I have all the pipe work sorted, it won't be going either side of the rad, its going underneath the front cross member bit.... I spent ages deciding how to do it, so I'll post more pics when its in as its hard to explain exactly.

The front bumper is the BAT Motorsport2.

These pics might help explain the pipe run as I've fitted that intercooler to a nova already.

Chris could you give the model number of that green air filter and also how did you mount it on the right???

NovaNeil
13-02-04, 10:24 AM
cmatty, That Nova runs a T3 Turbo that has the Turbo intake on the other side to the Coutenay supplied T2's. So we can't put the Filter that side.

My Hoses will be similar to that, but instead of Taking a 90 degree from the intercooler striaght up past the Rad, I will be going through the wing and up through the wheel arch, like how the standard Courtenay conversion links the Turbo to Airflow meter. The reason for this is because my new Filter will be sitting next to the Rad at the top......

Will Post pics when I do it. As its hard to explain.

Yeah Neil's right, the car does run a T3, but we also made our own manifold, we could have had the turbo either way round, but it made more sense to have it round the way we did. The Air filter is actually off a Subaru Impreza that we've adapted to fit using a few odds and sods, we thought it made a change from the usual Cossie bucket filter that every tosser puts on their corsa! lol
If you want a better look at the manifold take a look at this:

Chris,
Was there any noticable performance increase with the new Intercooler fitted? and as it been on a Rolling Road yet?

Chris_W
14-02-04, 08:20 PM
Neil,
The car has never been on the rolling road, so it's a bit hard to tell the effect. Also we changed alot of things at the same time, so the car drives completely differently now. The boost takes another 1K rpm to come in, but now when it comes in it's alot stronger. If we have the time we're going to make another manifold with smaller pipework and make the pipe run for it shorter aswell. At the moment we think the pipe diameter is too large so it's slowing the exhaust gas speed down and thus taking longer to spool. Anyway we've got NOS to go on, so we should be able to sort any lag problems with that.
the only real way of telling the improvement will be to get it on the strip as in it's original configuration it ran 15.4, but that was about 2 or 3 years ago, I mean the car was a white GTE at the time! lol

chirs how does your chromed manifold stay under heat, has it affected it making it look tatty or has it stayed perfectly chromed?

Chris_W
15-02-04, 01:09 AM
Neil,
The manifold isn't chromed, it's stainless steel that we stuck on a polishing wheel. Now the car has been run it's gone a nice gold/bronze colour, I'll have to get a pic and post it up.

oh right, i've ordered one from ashley, getting it monday, could i use one of those things u get for your drill to do it or take it somewhere to be done?

Chris_W
15-02-04, 12:03 PM
Neil,
Yeah that will be fine, all we've got is a bench grinder with a cloth polishing mop on it, but we've got 3 different types of polish, and thats where the work comes into it. Start off with a harsh compound, then workdown to something like autosol (gold and black tube) and then finish off with something like Peek fine metal polish (silver tube with blue writing). Does look good when it's done, but it's not the quickest thing in the world to do!
