Wheels on a 5dr

Mate of mine has a 5 door, and wants to fit some new alloys. Its currently lowered about 40mm, and he's looking to get either 17x7 or 16x7, both on ET45 offset.

Are these size wheels going to fit on ok? Being that the 5dr has round arches, is this gonna give him more room to play with? And what size tyres would be best on this setup?

Any info would be greatly received...

ive got a 5 door. yeah the arches do give slightly more room. got 17s on mine no probs. had 205/40/17. when i changed tyres got a good deal on 215/35/17 an they went on no problem suprisingly!!! goin 18s soon
