I am after a copy of Windows 2000.
Not windows 2000 upgrade, must be the full working version and a product key to get me going asap.

Anyone who can help me out with this i would really appreciate it.
You could even send me a 'backup' version if you wanted, i dont mind... or failing that send me your original to borrow for a few days and send back to you again... that'd do!!!

PLEASE!!!

Some people don't like XP. You running XP on your home machine Will?

Xp with virtual pc so im covered in every aspect, its very memory hungry but its good.

xp is the pc build and u can run "virtual machines" within the pc, e.g. run a 2k or 98 or nt or 95 in the background remember xp also has the compatibility wizard that lets u run a program in windows 95 mode and it does work ;)

i have 2000 at work

Win 2K is better on servers etc as it is much more stable.
Win xp is pretty and user friendly
At home Im running XP and have Red hat linux running as a virtual machine.

Also Will is right in xp, you can change compatability mode, but you can also change memory type (e.g. assign xms memory to ems). Good for old games/programs that rely on ems

mate at work described windows XP as 'The TeleTubbies Edition' which i thought was quite accurate... especially when you install it and as default you get teletubby land as the desktop background

well its faster and more refined than 2k once u turn off the "tellytubbies" interface

2k takes an age and then some to start, XP doesnt, XP has much better compatibility for old apps too

the interface is no excuse not to use xp since if uve got more than 2 braincells u can turn all the crap off and make it look exactly like 2k

remember 2k is version 5.0, XP is 5.1

its not a new release - its the same family, just a whole lot better

i think both versions have different uses. i have had a server run continuously on win 2k for weeks without a single problem. A friends server runs on XP and is used less than mine but is very unstable. Both machines are exact same spec apart from operating systems and run pretty much the same applications etc

doesnt help me with my MSCE studies though - it can sing and dance all it likes... but if the windows 2000 track of the MCSE exams doesnt ask me about it... its not much good to me

Will probably do the xp exam later though... just to show i can use that too.

2003 pro server is pretty cool, and you dont have to turn off any homo telly tubbie back grounds lol, but you do have the option of making it look like xp (if your clinically insane)
