It's my dads birthday soon and i want to get him a computer, i could go to PC world or commet or something but i know they charge stupid prices, I've got ?400 to spend on the base unit(ie not the monitor speakers ect...)

The tech spec i would like it to be is...

Graphics - Good enough to run the latest games with great 3d graphics.
Sound card - Really good one.
I dont know much about RAM and stuff but it needs to be able to be really quick and cope with 3 or 4 windows open at once.

dont want the games to 'lagg' or anything.

USB ports and printer ports etc....

If anyone can help me i'd be great full forver and give u lots of bum love.

Thanks again, neil

neil, i'll email you with spec of one. my mate has just said he's selling his. last time i saw it, he had made a water cooling system for it. so it does not need a fan and is quieter.

AMD Athlon XP 2700+ (2.17ghz) *333fsb*
160gig Hard Drive (Maxtor 7200rpm, 8mb cache, quiet drive technology)
1 gig DDR memory
52x CD-ROM
16x DVD-ROM

I have personally put together a few of these systems and they are powerful enough for what you want and then some. Nothing further is
required.

Total Cost from supplier (including VAT & Delivery) ?361.32

Cant remember if thats including modem or not, but if not just call it 370 instead.
