that aint as much as I expected, I was plannin on getting a 1.4 sr when i pass my test and modifyin the body wrk so that it looks like a GTE,

just out of interest what are the specs of a GTE compared to a 1.4 sr?

SR 72bhp grp 7 insurance

GTE 100bhp grp 11

young drivers cant go wrong with SRI 82bhp, easy enough to make near 90hp with a new little mods and group 7 insurance bargain

will

p.s. dan is right, i know for fact driving my gsi now at 20/21 is just right at 17 i would have written one off and or killed myself

Liverpool Victoria don't care about mods if you are 3rd party only insured.

That way, I can mod to fuck and not worry :D

Get a 1.2 - they are a laugh, and you wont care if you twat it.

What the fuck, it doesnt matter whever you write off a gte or a 1.2 at the end of the day he's bound to modify what ever one he gets. Apart from that you can get hold of a gte for around about the same price you'd pay for a 1.2 anyway.

yeah I agree mate, i might just get a GTE least i wont have to pay out for the bumpers, skirts etc.

btw wot roughly is the top speed of a standard GTE?

Ben3042

People claim that they have a 130 mph out of there standard gte which i would imagine is true give or take a few mph, although nova speedo's have never been that accurate

If you are going to buy a GTE then youll save a few ? on buying bumpers for a 1.2 but youll end up spending a shit load more money on insurance.

If i was you i'd expect to pay around ?2500 - ?3000 for insurance on a gte, thats in your name so you will still get ncb after your first year of driving providing you dont have an accident. Although a 17 year old who's has just past his test and drives a gte does have a very high chance of writing his car off and possibly other cars while his in the process.

It'l be one of those times when you get your mates in the car try to show off by giving it some and end up binning your car down into a ditch ect.

My advice would be to get a 1.2 instead of a gte.

the boy talks sense!
get a 1.2, even if you only keep it a few months then get an SR, you just need some good solid driving experience under your belt

Just a thought - but have you considered getting a few quotes and finding out for yourself???

http://www.novaload.net/forums/viewtopic.php?p=188138#188138
24 Insurance companies listed - if you cant get a quote from any of them... its likely that you cant get insured on a GTE at all :D

there is no way you are gonna get insured at a reasonable price mate on a GTE. My mates 20 on his dads insurance no no claims, no covictions or accidents been driving two years in his dads name and the Gte is insured in his dads name 1600 quid.

i started out with a 1.3 sr had it 6 days and rolled it what a twat, then brought a 1.4 sr couldnt insure it, although i didnt claim on my 1.3 sr nova. So brought a nova 1.2 diamond, special edition model, metallic paint,e/w,s/r, as standard come with the sr 3 spokes as found on gte/gsi.

if buying a 1.2 i would go for a Sting, Diamond, or an sxi

sting and diamond f,g, and h reg
sxi j and k

my advice get a bit of experience mate then save the pennys and get a gte or whatever after a year if you keep a clean sheet, you will look like a fool if you buy a gte and prang it after a few weeks :D

Insurance companies know you're less of a risk with certain cars. If you've done 60 hours/paid someone to do 60 hours rebuilding a car with a new engine etc. you're less likely to make a claim for a small amount (cos you'll have a higher excess) and less likely to be a **** in it..

St GSI for me (30, full NCD no points, garaged, love my nan and all that..... ?580 comp)

Valver ?590........................ comp
