just had an arguement with my brother and he thinks a mini with 110bhp and only 2 seats in itwill have more bhp per tonne than a nova valver - i said bull5h1t.
he reckons a nova valver weighs 1200kgs - again i said bull5h1t

please settle the arguement with real figures please....

base spec nova is about 750kg

GTE is about 850kg

gsi prolly slightly more

iirc the valver engine is about 50kg heavier than the standard gte lump

so say 900kg as a max figure

150bhp valver gives 166bhp per ton in a fully equipped gte and prolly about 200bhp per ton in a base spec model stripped out with 2 seats etc

just told him this and he still reckons a 1430cc mini with 110bhp @ wheels will beat a c20xe nova - how can i get it into his head that it wont!

i got a feelin the mini will win my 1380 mini is all lightened and balanced and cammed running at a guess just over 100bhp and it went alot quick on the straight than me 2 lt 16v nova went. put it this way the rev counter needle willl move up at same speed as speedo needle all day long. they cant put out the top speed tho. but i think down a drag it would eat it. they weigh approx 300 kg less than a nova 2 lt so i think th emini has it unless the nova is tuned. my opinion anyway. god knows what a 1480 would be like

Mini's weigh about 600kg's I think, so 110bhp would be about 180bhp/ton.

Standard C20XE Nova = 170bhp/ton.
